Rated 5 out of 5 by Very bright white light I used this rope lighting for making part of my wedding decorations, It worked wonderfully. It was very bright and assembly was pretty easy with the end connectors even though those were a little flimsy. The lines marked on the outside for where it is okay to cut/splice it were really helpful. I will definitely use these again, and will most likely buy more in the future. This particular roll I used to wrap the trunk of my "light tree" I do not recommend wrapping this around heavy wall PVC because even though it will not get hot enough to melt anything it does build up enough heat to make the PVC soft, which then causes it to collapse under the weight of the rest of the tree. However, the lights all still work after that so obviously they are pretty durable. :-) October 8, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Look nice when lit. The frosted / pearl lights have a very soft (nice) look to them. Everything was provided to put them up as a single string or break them into small strings. Great price. July 2, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good value product! I bought this rope light to string up in our camp at Burning Man last year. It did an awesome job. The rope light is designed to allow for cutting every 18" or so but I didn't until just this summer almost one year after digging it out of the box after burning man and stringing it up on some shade sails in my back yard. Unfortunately, the wind killed the lights. As the wind flapped the sails I think it wore out one of the lines and caused a bad connection. Great light - it's a beautiful, even, soft illumination. But I'd recommend putting it on something less dynamic than shade sails or anything else that flaps in the wind. June 10, 2011

Mounting Tips

Continuous flexing of rope light may damage its internal electrical connections. To avoid premature failure, mount rope light to sturdy surfaces such as wood or glass and reinforce it with a channel raceway or reflector trim of the correct diameter.

If you must install rope light on an unstable or moving surface such as trees or bushes, it is most cost-effective to use incandescent rope light, which can be replaced at a lower cost than LED rope light.

Movement of frozen rope lights may also damage electrical connections. Avoid installing or re-spooling rope light when temperatures are below freezing. The PVC tubing can become brittle in temperatures below 50 deg. F.

Note on UL Listing and Installation Safety

Please note that cutting this rope light, even following manufacturer instructions, will void the UL listing of the product. This, however, does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe.

If UL listing is an important concern for you or your organization either use the full length of the spool without cutting it or consider purchasing our shorter rope light "kits".

While 1000Bulbs.com encourages all creative use of rope lights, we assume no responsibility for problems arising from cutting rope light. Professional installation is always recommended.
