I looked around for BR40 bulbs to replace my dining room lights and couldn't find them until I saw them on 1000bulbs. They're energy hogs, but I just haven't seen the need to switch to CFLs or LEDs in my dining room.
So far, they work great. For a 10,000 hour bulb, they were also a steal. I've actually paid more for 2,000 hour bulbs in the past! They're 130 volt, so they're a little more yellow than my old 120 volt bulbs were at full power, but I dim them anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by McGirk It's nice enough
It's noticeably dimmer than the 120 watt floods I'm accustomed to, but the light is still sufficiently bright enough for reading and other activities that require good illumination. The light casts a warm, more yellowish glow than some of the other floods I've used in the past. Some floods (the 120 watt variety) cast a more intense white light. Overall, I'm pleased and would recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by K4TEU Early failure and glass envelope fractures
Out of six ordered at one time, two had mechanical problems with the integrity of the glass (broke easily) and one failed after 2 hours of use. Other than that, if they survive handling and early failure, they have proven to be acceptable.
