At some point, this particular GU7.9 bulb was introduced into the market, and seemingly every manufacturer of light fixtures designed around it. Then for some reason, the scale of production was pulled back, leaving lots of fixture owners searching all over looking for these replacement bulbs. 1000 Bulbs was one of the few places to offer this at a very reasonable price.
Overall, the bulbs do not last very long... I'm not sure how long exactly, but it does seem that they burn out prematurely. If ever there was an economical LED replacement for them, that would be great. Otherwise, I am thinking of just switching out the eyeball-style trim that uses them to something that uses a more standard socket.
Also, beware other bulbs that claim GU7.9. Some of those bulbs are longer, and will not fit in an eyeball trim (such as mine) with enough clearance to attach the electrical connections.
