Decent Electronic Ballast
This ballast seems to work well. It could be built better, however. The case is thin and flimsy. Also, the yellow wires come out on the same end as the red and blue wires. Usually, it is more convenient to have the yellow wires exit the other end of the ballast since they connect to the opposite end of the tubes.
This ballast does not have "end-of-life" protection, so tubes will flicker and flash, and sometimes even crack when they fail.
For a little more money, the Advance ballast is a little better.

Howard Electronic Ballasts
I purchased six of these to replace the conventional magnetic ballasts that were used in my garage and workshop fixtures. Winter temperatures gave me a no-start or flicker below 55-60 degrees. The Howard ballast was one of the very few rated to operate down to 32 F (without resorting to high-output tubes). The fixtures now start instantly and run flicker-free in 40 degree conditions.
Installation advice from Howard Lighting: sand the paint from the mounting foot of the ballast (where the sheet metal screw secures the ballast) and add a ground jumper to the input cable/fluorescent fixture ground.

This ballast solved a very exotic problem for me.
The lamps in which I was replacing the ballasts are on circuits controlled by a carrier current switching system--a system which transmits signals over the building wiring to electronic units which activate and deactivate the control relays for the various circuits. Magnetic ballasts act as an attenuator for these control signals and I was unable to overcome that effect, thus losing the "Off" function. I could turn the circuit on, but the magnetic ballasts would not allow me to turn the circuit off, even though I installed special electronic "traps" which were supposed to isolate the magnetic ballasts and allow the signal to not be attenuated. These electronic ballasts do not exhibit the attenuation or saturation of a magnetic ballast and thus allow me to control both of the functions.
The ballasts are very competitive in pricing when compared to most magnetic replacement ballasts. They do not generate as much extraneous electrical noise. And they seem to generate less heat during operation.
Their reliability is guaranteed and has proven superior to some other electronic ballasts I have used.
All in all, I am very pleased with quality and performance of this ballast.

great, cost-effective ballast
We bought 20 of these to replace the 30-year-old ballasts in our offices. It was work getting into those old fixtures and rewiring, but well worth it. Now the lights are brighter with no more flicker or 60 Hz buzz. Every unit worked perfectly and they are very cost-effective.

Simple Ballast for unheated garage.
Great choice when cold starting is necessary.
