Designate your current time and date and the astronomic feature will automatically adjust this timer for sunrise and sunset times without the use of a photocell. This 1800 to 4155 watt rated timer can control a variety of electrical components including fluorescent fixtures, high wattage lamps, and electric motors. Great timer This is a great timer that is very clean and attractive. I had a little difficulty in the programming, but other than that, it is a great product. June 10, 2011

Great electro-mechanical timer switch There are a lot of fully-electronic timers out there, but they typically require you to have a neutral wire available in the switch box. If you're replacing a regular switch or a mechanical timer, it is possible that you don't have a neutral available in the switch box. If that's the case, then this timer is a wonderful alternative to trying to find a neutral wire. One really nice thing is that it can be calibrated to your geographic location so that it optionally adjusts on and off times based on estimated sunrise/sunset times. Installs easily, works very well with all lamp types The only problem I had with this unit was understanding that one of the forty memory locations only does ONE THING! One off or one on, not one cycle (on and off). Once I got past that it was then fun to tweak. Setting the on/off at dusk was a little to late at night and too early in the morning. Pushing the time to sunset and sunrise was perfect and the switch adjusts perfectly through the year. It works so well, I have bought more switches for other houses. Be careful with the installation as the switch body will fill the box; there is not a lot of room for the wires and wire nuts. With a relay output it will power CFLs with no problem (triac based switches don't). June 10, 2011
