Important Note

BEFORE you turn on a dimmable CCFL light bulb...

Please understand that dimmable cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) light bulbs will not work properly at the same voltage settings used for incandescent light bulbs. If you simply replace your incandescent light bulbs without adjusting your dimmer, your new dimmable CCFL light bulbs will flicker and extinguish at the low voltage setting. Therefore, we recommend the following procedure when installing dimmable CCFL light bulbs:

  1. Turn off the power to your current incandescent light bulbs.
  2. Replace the incandescents with your new dimmable CCFL light bulbs.
  3. Re-energize the lighting circuit with your dimmer in the "full light" setting.
  4. Slowly dim your new CCFL light bulbs until they just begin to flicker.
  5. From that point, raise the light level slightly until all CCFL light bulbs are operating without flicker at a dimmed level. Set this level as your new "low setting."

This procedure should prevent flickering, extinguishing at low levels, and early failure of CCFL light bulbs. If, however, these difficulties occur, replace any CCFL light bulb with an incandescent light bulb. The addition of an incandescent or inductive load will stop the flicker, allow a lower light level setting, and should prolong the life of your CCFL light bulbs. Please let us know if we can help in any other way. (3/7/10)

Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bulbs, great price. I've been using these bulbs for about 4-5 years now and have really enjoyed everything about them. I have around 80 or so running roughly 10 - 12 hours a day 365 days a year and only had to changed a handful of them this past month. I'd have to say that large power fluctuations are their worst enemy. February 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Why are these not more well known? These cold cathode bulbs with 2250K color temperature are a great product that deserve more use. I use these 5W units in my antique lighing fixtures. They look fine, and the color is very good. I have all the bulbs that www.1000bulbs. com offer in this 2250k line and like each one. Their dimming qualities are excellent. Another positive is that they produce almost NO HEAT. Even after the bulb has been on for hours, it is easily handled - AMAZING! Living in a warm climate, this is very much appreciated! I am using dimmable LED bulbs in my kitchen. They are whiter in color, but OK for food preparation. However, in my living areas I prefer a more muted/warmer color. The color of these bulbs is somewhat pink and very flattering. I use the 8 watt standard bulbs in table lamps. I use the larger 8 watt flood lamp in can fixtures throughout the house. Once again, they dim very well and the color is very warm - better than ANY CFL bulb I've seen - and despise! And warmer than any LED bulb I've yet seen. The only downside is that the bulb still has mercury in it, and needs to be responsibly disposed of when it expires. June 11, 2011
