I like to use Christmas lights for diffuse lighting in most of the rooms in my house, and these lights are really not all that durable. I've bought about 15 strings or so from 1000bulbs in the past 2 years and the lifespan of these lights has ranged from over a year (mesh lights, which are no longer available) to literally about 2 months. The outages range from a single bulb, to several single bulbs, to half of the string going out. I am not sure what is wrong with the construction of these lights--if lights are wired in parallel, the entire half of a string is not supposed to be taken out by one bulb, so I think these are wired in half-series.
Granted, I use them almost daily and have no real context for how long Christmas lights should last if only used at Christmas, but I am really burning out (no pun) on the unreliability of incandescents, and am moving to the LED strings.

So far, so good with these. A nice bright strand with no duds. Too early to evaluate lifespan, but fingers crossed.

I bought these lights to replace a set that I had used as a decorative element in my home. I didn't realize how inferior my previous set was until I installed the new ones. These are much brighter and do not seem to generate as much heat, over time, as my old set.
