TCP has done a really good job replicating a halogen bulb with this CFL. The 3100K color temperature is virtually indistinguishable from a halogen, and the faceted face gives it a surprisingly wide and even beam spread. It's also wet location listed, but I would suggest installing the bulb under an eve or carport. It works well outside, though the warm-up time is longer in cold weather.

These bulbs are fine if you can wait a few minutes until you actually have enough light to see something. For example, they would be good on a timer that you set ahead of the time you need the light. But if you use them to light a dark room that you are entering and you want to be able to see well the instant you enter, buy a bulb that starts at near full power instantly.
