TUV PL-S lamps are compact UVC (germicidal) lamps used in residential water and air disinfection units. The compact size of the lamp allows for a small system design and design flexibility. TUV PL-S lamps offer constant UV output over their complete lifetime, for maximum security of disinfection and high system efficacy. Thanks to the single-ended lamp base, lamp replacement is easy. This germicidal lamp operates at 9 watts and has an ultraviolet output of 2.4 watts. It has an average life of 8,000 hours.

I use these bulbs in a special fixture through which my pond water is circulated. This effectively kills all harmful algae and keeps my pond crystal clear. The only drawback is that the bulbs seem to last only about two seasons, which aren't that long here in the northeast. However, the performance does warrant the cost.
