Rated 4 out of 5 by Seems like a nice product, but doesn't dim that low I like this light, and can agree with other's comments by and large. The two reasons I am not getting more are 1) It doesn't throw as much light towards the top of the bulb as others do. For many purposes (like a reading light), it would be better, but not for my needs. 2) There is a pronounced "hysteresis" in response to a dimmer. You need to raise a dimmer past a certain threshold to get the bulb to light, and then reduce the dimmer if you want a very dim light. November 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Philips LED: Very Bright Dimmable Light that should last for years. Energy efficient light bulbs can make a real dent in monthly electrical bills (admittedly there's a steep initial entry cost to these savings). I have CFLs throughout my house and from time to time I look about to see if I can upgrade to even more efficient bulbs (the quandry is that you have to wait for the old ones to burn out!). Anyway, this Philips LED caught my eye after it won a national efficiency award. I purchased 5 of them and placed them in a ceiling fixture and the overall effect is exceedingly bright - perhaps too bright for my living room. So it is a welcome aspect that the bulb is dimmable. Without this feature, I suspect a bank of these would overwhelm a room. Thinking about it, it's probably better to have a bulb be too bright than not bright enough. Anyway, as you dim the bulbs, there is a welcome development - no buzzing sound. I am very happy with my purchase - you can't beat the efficiency aspect. Barring some manufacturing defect, I will not have to replace them for literally decades. And when I do toss them out, after years of service - they will contain no mercury. June 1, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by almost there - in some applications this is a great incandescent substitute Base gets pretty hot, so I believe the instructions that say not to use it in an enclosed fixture. Very quick warmup (< 1 sec) to full light and it's a pleasing, warm light. I'm an energy engineer, so primary interest was professional, but I would also use this in my house. May 21, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Color and brightness match 60w incandescent This is really the best match to the color(warmth) of a incandescent bulb I have found. I am a CFL & LED nut so I have tried many. I installed one of these in my upstairs hall. The hall switch controls three basic globe lights. Two have 60 watt incandescent and one has this bulb. They are a perfect match. The only things I can complain about is the weight, cost and dimmability. These bulbs are heavy. The cheap globe lights I have allow the bulb to sag and rest on the glass globe. The cost is high but is also offset by the savings in the long run. Finally I have a dimmer on these lights. The incandescent dim much further down then this bulb but this bulb beats any dimmable CFL I have tried. If these ever match and incandescent in the dimming department they will be a 5 star. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Replacement for 60 Watt Incandescent Lamp This is the first LED lamp that I have used that matches the brightness, color and light distribution of a 60 watt incandescent lamp. Purchase price is steep but energy savings should offset that over the life of the lamp. July 7, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks just like a regular 60 watt bulb. I can't tell the difference in the color from a traditional 60 watt bulb. Just as bright too. Only minor difference is it takes a fraction of a second from flipping the switch until it turns on. Not nearly as much as say a flourecent bulb, but enough to be noticed. July 1, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Long way to go LED lights have a long way to go. I bought one on an experiment but I can't imagine replacing every light in my house with this one. Never mind the cost. For starters, you can't put it in an enclosed fixture such as a ceiling light. June 30, 2011
