The BRK 3120B is a wire-in, 120VAC 60Hz single and/or multiple station photoelectric and ionization dual sensor smoke alarm specifically designed for residential and institutional applications including sleeping rooms of hospitals, hotels, motels, dormitories, and other multifamily dwellings as defined in standard NFPA 101. It meets building codes where AC/DC photoelectric and ionization combination smoke alarms are required.

Much improved over BRK 7010B
The 3120B is a huge improvement over previous BRK models.
We had 10 linked BRK 7010B detectors that were just awful: many spurious alarms, silence buttons didn't work, can't tell which unit alarmed for 20 seconds at 2am then went silent, battery replacement warnings even though the units were AC powered. Our house has more than a hundred feet of alarm wiring due to modular construction, and that may be more than the 7010B electronics could deal with.
We've replaced the important ones with 3120B units, and they're much better. No false alarms in a month, and the testing and silence and latching features work as documented. If the batteries stay good for more than 3 years (we never have power outages) then the 3120B will be a perfect unit.
Highly recommended.

Double protection--ion/photon important
This is only company selling BRK/First Alert's new ion/photon smoke detector. The double protection is strongly recommended by most fire departments.
