Rated 5 out of 5 by The best dimmable CFL I've tried DImmable CFLs are kind of a hit-or-miss product. Other brands I've tried flickered constantly and the light was just ugly. These TruDims don't dim like my old incandescent bulbs, but they do dim evenly and reliably. I have 8 of these in recessed cans in my media room, and I use a regular rotary dimmer... nothing fancy. At 30% they make the room nice and cozy, and at 100% they allow me to find my remote :) Can't complain with that! January 25, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Light quality good ; dimming okay ; has slight buzz and flickering I'm sorry to report that this bulb buzzed for me--beginning at a moderate volume then becoming quieter as it warmed up over several minutes, but the buzzing never entirely disappeared. I have other dimmable CFL floods in the same fixtures that have had zero buzzing, so I know that buzzing is not inevitable. Also, at low dim setting, there was a slight flicker. Further, the bulb did not seem to dim nearly to what I would call "2%" of full brightness--though that may have more to do with how the dimmer switch is set than with the bulb, so I reserve judgement on that aspect. All in all, the buzzing leads me to recommend against this bulb. January 13, 2012
