Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lamp at a great price I purchased six of these lamps for a cathedral ceiling in our kitchen. I selected the 5000k to get the "daylight", which is great in a food preparation area. They are instant on (compared to the CFL's I tried previously) and work well with our old dimmer switch. Because the ceiling "cans" were for a PAR38 long-neck halogen bulb (not an R40) I had to purchase socket "extenders" to make them fit, which causes the lamps to protrude slightly from the ceiling. Kobi seems to have broken the price barrier with these very reasonably-priced lamps. And they are guaranteed for LIFE, which will make them a real money saver over time. May 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very pleased with size and performance We really like this bulb, but we wish they made it in a temperature other than 2700 or 5000. A bulb from 3000-4000 temperature would be great. Notice a slight delay on start-up sometimes, but doesn't cause an issue for us. March 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't believe it! I bought 9 of the Kobi Cool 85 R40 over the last two months. My first electric bill came yesterday after replacing the recessed lights with them. My typical monthly electric bill is $140. This month it was $106.71. I'll pay for these in less than a year.....and if they last for twenty five years I will not see them burn out because I will be long gone to the other side. I need 5 more to complete the house and with a review like this Kobi should send me the 5! Honestly, I am very surprised but I am now an LED convert. November 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the instant on and brightness The 5000K color bulbs are great for a kitchen and I actually like them better than the warm color. The LED price will continue to drop but they are reasonable at this point. I am slowly replacing my CFL as they fail. September 29, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by better than cfl or incandescent i put 4 of these in can lights in the kitchen, they put out quite a bit of light, and the light pattern is wide (not like some LEDs that are very directional). they are bright, about equivalent of a 75 watt incandescent, and look much better than the twist CFLs i had in the cans before. i tried CFLs in r40 shape, but they melt over time due to the heat trapped in the glass, so i had twist CFLs. as with all LEDs, they are a very solid light, much nicer than the slightly flickering of all CFLs (many people don't notice the flicker, but i do). the only downside is that although they look good, they are about 1 inch shorter than they should be, don't fit quite right. the cost is high, but these lights are on all the time, and i remember going through $6 incandescents every 6 months due to the heat build up, so i should save money after a couple years.
