I got 3 of these bulbs to replace the clear ones that came with clear globe pendants. The pendants hang just above eye level and the clear bulb + clear globe led to harsh glare. These frosted bulbs produce light that's more diffused. They're still small bright point sources, but much more tolerable in my circumstances. Price was fine and shipping was fast. I've only had them for a month or so, so I can't comment on longevity.
