The light projected from this bulb is diffused and is not as effective as halogens. For showrooms that need to brighten up merchandise, it isn't too good. But for overall general lighting it is satisfactory. It really depends on the application.

I have a game room with 4 pot lights in a row and was using 4 65W incandescent spots. They were the usual yellow light and they provided marginally acceptable light levels for the area. I replaced these with 4 of the above CFL lamps and their output is really a lot greater than the incandescent bulbs I replaced. I also like their color balance in that they produce a "whiter", but not glaring light. This also has another plus in that they produce a lot less heat and use less electricity.
They do have a relatively short warm-up period for CFL-lamps and I am very pleased with my purchase!
