Rated 4 out of 5 by Robbster Instant on, slowish time to full output, good full spectum light
Have these in 12 kitchen cans. My criteria are instant on, very fast to full output, high quality natural full spectrum light (hate yellow bias in incandescents and low color temp CFLs), and reliable (no DOA's, long life, no dangerous failures in use). These hit on two of these criteria very well, i.e., instantly producing SOME light, and the quality of the light is very good once full output is reached. The CRI of these is 82, which is decent, and just good enough to make the whiter light of 5100K color temperature feel fairly natural vs. harsh/artificial.
They are slow to reach full brightness, on the order of 2-2.5 minutes by my testing, which is below average compared to many other CFL's I use (e.g., TCP TruStart, TruDim, Sylvania MicroMini). Hence 4 stars vs. 5 (would have given 3.5 if that was possible).
But good for the price, an effective replacement for 65 watt R30's if you can live with the slow time to full brightness. Given use in the kitchen, it's not SO bad, especially early in the morning when a gradual brightening is actually kinda helpful :-).
In terms of reliablity, these are new, so can't say about lifefime, but the 13 I purchased all worked out of the box, no DOAs, and TCP products have a nice quality feel to them as well, so the early returns are favorable.
Wish fors: better CRI for even more natural feel (tho these are still good), and MUCH faster to full brightness.
