Upgrade existing polycarbonate and glass globes to this 14-inch clear acrylic replacement globe. Because it is made of UV resistant acrylic, it resists yellowing and cracking for a longer lifespan than plastic or glass alternatives. It will fit any light fixture or lamp post requiring a neckless a 5.25 inch opening.

I bought this acrylic sphere to make a space helmet. I was able to cut the material (to make the visor) quite nicely using a metal-cutting Dremel blade in a cutoff router. Painter's tape on either side of the cut line helped prevent chipping. The acrylic holds spraypaint well, especially if you spray the inside so the shiny outside finish still shows. I haven't had any problems with cracking or chipping even after bringing it to several parties.
A great choice for costume helmet projects!

i know it wasnt made to make mau5heads, but it did the job. i just wish it were thicker because it cracked at some parts. so i had to reinforce it with gorilla tape, which made it too heavy

I ordered this product due to the fast shipping and low price, and I was very happy with the quality when it arrived.
It seems to be uniform in thickness (with the exception of the neck, as expected) and worked well for my project.
One thing to note: I needed to cut the globe for my project. The stresses I induced caused some small cracks. This is a fault of the material and my actions, not of the product itself. These cracks could have been prevented with pilot holes prior to cutting and were relieved with holes I drilled to stop them from spreading further.
Overall I am very satisfied.

2011 Halloween costume was Deadmau5 and this product worked great. highly recommend this if that's what your looking to do with this product.

Our new septic tank and "Enviro" leach field had an ugly 4 foot vent pipe on our front lawn. I spray painted the inside of a clear 14" globe with a nice shade of blue automobile paint and attached it to a hollow pedistal. I cut off the curved part of the vent pipe at the top. and slid the "Gazing Ball" and pedistal over the pipe. I made the pedistal and ball to allow for ventalation. It looks beautiful and is functional as well.
