I picked an assortment of oldy style bulbs to try out and this one definitely tops them all! Great shape and the best subdued warm glow emitting from the amber glass. Try it with an old wire cage of sorts or any shade where you want to be able to look directly at the light . Not a light you can read by, even with two or three- just for lounging with a glass of red wine in hand and a honey by your side.

Great looking lamp. We have an older craftsman style home and these look great. Not over bright and so additional lighting is required but a great look.

This bulb produces a warm light that is soft and flattering. I have 5 in an antler base and it's perfect. Neither too fussy or too modern.

The light from the bulb is quite dim but the lit filament is beautiful and gives the effect of a lit candle. Good to relax by. You will need a brighter task light to work by.

I put three of the 30 watt into an antique lamp. They are perfect for the lighting you'd like just for the atmosphere. Don't expect to read by them! They show through a beaded shade beautifully, creating a soft glow that gives the feeling of cozy warmth.
Note that the 30 watt has amber colored glass. I didn't purchase any with the clear glass but my other Edisons with clear glass give pretty much the same impression. Maybe not quite as warm.
