This high output, 120 volt chasing rope light is twice as bright as our standard 1/2 inch rope light, making it ideal for commercial applications. When used with a chasing controller (sold separately), this 120 volt rope light will flash, chase, dim, and put on a light show that is as easy to control as it is to install. Rated 4 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Durable, bright and working well! We are using this rope light in a production of Cabaret at Playcrafters in Skippack, PA. I split out the four circuits and have a four channel dimmer pack controlling them for both static lighting and a number of different chases (including clockwise and anti clockwise "Comets" and "Humps".) Some of the rope light is directly on the stage floor, attached by zip ties stapled to the stage. It has been kicked, stepped upon and generally abused by the cast, but it still looks good and functions perfectly. The color temperature is exactly what I expected (about 2800K) and the "off look" makes it almost disappear on a battleship gray background. Almost perfect for my application. The only "con" is that you need to be very careful to keep the clearer side up/out or there are minor intensity variations. It would have been better if the outside surface was uniform clear. But an hour to lay the rope vs. 20 minutes was not a bad tradeoff for the overall price of the effect. June 6, 2011

Mounting Tips

Continuous flexing of rope light may damage its internal electrical connections. To avoid premature failure, mount rope light to sturdy surfaces such as wood or glass and reinforce it with a channel raceway or reflector trim of the correct diameter.

If you must install rope light on an unstable or moving surface such as trees or bushes, it is most cost-effective to use incandescent rope light, which can be replaced at a lower cost than LED rope light.

Movement of frozen rope lights may also damage electrical connections. Avoid installing or re-spooling rope light when temperatures are below freezing. The PVC tubing can become brittle in temperatures below 50 deg. F.

Note on UL Listing and Installation Safety

Please note that cutting this rope light, even following manufacturer instructions, will void the UL listing of the product. This, however, does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe.

If UL listing is an important concern for you or your organization either use the full length of the spool without cutting it or consider purchasing our shorter rope light "kits".

While 1000Bulbs.com encourages all creative use of rope lights, we assume no responsibility for problems arising from cutting rope light. Professional installation is always recommended.
