I purchased this timer to run the pump on a hydroponic system. It programed easily for the three times a day I needed it. The problem was the automatic light detector and it came on at dark every evening. That is good for lights, but it ran out the tank and soaked the plants. There is no override for this feature. Upon contacting the manufacturer, I was told to put black tape over the eye. It was still too sensitive from light leakage through the side of the plastic cover. I could not use it for the purpose I bought it. I do think that I would work fine for lighting and is very easy to program.
