Rated 3 out of 5 by Kdes Uni-directional, unlike the incandescent.
Throws light in only one direction. Does not brighten the whole room, unlike the old incendescent.

Just wish this light had a bit more output. It lights the room nicely, but is just a little dim for these old eyes to read by (it replaced a 3-way CFL). I'll probably replace this bulb with a 100W equivalent when I get a chance, and move this one into another lamp that isn't used for reading.
Nice color, nicer than the yellowish CFL it replaced.

Speedy delivery, carefully packaged so no breakage. The gray base shows through a clear glass shade so using a translucent or opaque glass shade over the bulb is better aesthetically. Bright but pleasant, not harsh. Instant on. Fluorescent bases started turning brown in the ceiling fan. Looked on reviews and found many others had this problem, some even having the fluorescents catch on fire or burst. Replaced all bulbs through entire house with new fluorescents and saw the 23 watt bulbs just getting the slightest brown tinge on the bases. Now replaced all bulbs with LED's. Expensive but less expensive than a fire. The quality of light is pleasing. Bought cool white for kitchen and office, warm for bedrooms and living room. Prices at 1000bulbs less than at a lighting store and configuration less bulky. Of course, over time, the prices will come down. However, in about 2 weeks between my first and second order, the price for the same bulbs at 1000bulbs actually went up!
