They are available in a number of color options to allow the light to complement the interior design of a space. They decrease high angle brightness with minimal effect on total fixture output.

Much better than Halogen
When I purchased my house, My kitchen had Halogen 14 MR16 bulbs recessed for lighting. The light quality was good.
In order to make my house more efficient, I replaced the Kitchen lights with 11 of these. The 11 lights are far brighter than the 14 MR16's, produce less heat, and draw almost no electricity.
Power savings have been made even better due to the reduced need for cooling because of the reduced heat.
Light quality is also unexpectedly better than the Halogen. It has a much more diffuse lighting pattern, reducing shadows, and the full spectrum of the light makes food look better.
