Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect replacement for halogens The 3 halogen track lights in my kitchen felt so HOT that I hated using them. But since they're the main source of light I was motivated to try LEDs, in spite of the expense. I first bought one 3000k bulb from Amazon to try out. I learned the hard way the different between PAR 30 Long vs Short. The fixture I had only could take short, so I sent them back. I next went to the local lightbulb store (with my fixture in hand), and bought a 3000k short. It fit, but the light was way too "cool" and harsh compared to the light of the halogens. I tried it for 2 days but hated the light color so I returned it. Amazon didn't carry 2700k PAR30 short bulbs, so I extended my search and found several to choose from on this site. Great! I wasn't sure which "beam angle" would be best for me, but I did some rough calculations and decided on this product, the 40 degree flood. I LOVE these lights. They're just as bright and warm as the old halogens, it's very hard to tell the difference - except no more "interrogation light" heat! April 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great bulb for the price, but dims to only 50-60% brightness Pros: 1) This bulb looks beautiful, 2) is very bright (says 800 lumens, but seems brighter than the 840 lumens halogen bulbs it was replacing), 3) creates almost no heat whatsoever, and 4) great bulb for the money. Cons: 1) Dims to only 50-60% brightness, vs. TCP or Utilitech/Feit LED's which dim to under 5% of full brightness, 2) 40 degree lens does not spread the light as well as a halogen bulb - this LED is painful to the eye to look directly at it even for a second, even when dimmed, unlike the halogen, and 3) this Precision Lighting Bulb is less advanced than the TCP brand LED bulb since it uses 14.5W vs 12W for the same lumens from the TCP brand LED bulb, sku# TCP-12P30SD27KFL... much better price though.
