Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is one of the best bulbs for the money. This bulb is amazing. Its a copy cat of philips 400 watt ceramic metal halide. Don't waste your money on the so called agro bulbs selling for over a hundred bucks. This bulb will work with any S51 ballast magnetic, digital, electronic any will do fine. The color is even better when burned verticaly. In the begining around 2006 when philips first came out with this bulb it was ment to retro fit malls and parking lots with a whiter light philps brand could hit an amazing 95 cri. Thats the color of the sun folks. Urban legend says a stoner noted the bulbs super powers and tried it in his garden. Ok well thats how I was told about this amazing bulb. The Ge bulb is great but if you can find the real McCoy the philips brand you will understand. Note this bulb is LEC light emmiting ceramic. So yes philips still make lec lighting after finding out they could make a killing on there own propriertory bulb and ballast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This light is amazing and doesn't get very hot I became interested in ceramic metal halides about five years ago for light therapy. I bought a 50 watt one for in the home in winter and didn't get depressed when the days became short. The science behind the GE 400 watt Chromafit is color rendering index or (CRI). Chromafit is 80 and the sun is 100. I got the idea to put one of these in my indoor greenhouse for my nft basil setup and soon after I switched to all Chromafit 400 lamps. I saved on cooling since they run cooler and also the Basil grew faster. To make a long story short , these lights used outside or inside emit a beautiful light reminiscent of an autumn afternoon sunset. The light is soft , natural and inviting. I work better around these lights since the spectrum tricks my mind into thinking the light is sunlight.
