Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Bulb Light is good and bright. We used them for a dark hallway, very good throw of light. February 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good overall light These lights have met all of my expectations so far. Good light, not a blueish hue led light but a crisp white light. They have better clean light than the halogens they replaced. The only minor inconvenience is the typical turn on delay associated with a lot of led lights. If these last as long as stated I'll be very happy. December 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best price and quality This price was the best I had found anywhere. The bulbs were packaged carefully and the quality was superior. Great value and great product. December 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very pleased I bought 10 of these and they all work great. Very bright. August 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Greenest bulb We bought 2 of these to test drive them. The first thing I noticed was the differance in luminance. At thirty foot up I read 38 ft candles on one and 45 ft candles on the other. Not sure what that means exactly but they were both brighter than the others in the room with half the power consumption. Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent LED bulb for outdoors! Quite a bit whiter than the halogens we used to use, but brighter which we have grown to enjoy! A great buy assuming they last as long as they should! Much cooler burning which is important in our outside sealed fixture. I also use them in open floods outdoors, so important they can be used in wet areas also. Very pleased! December 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great overall, but turn-on delay present These are great for 6" recessed cans, and the 3500K color is a nice choice for neutral lighting. The newer line (1100 series-- denoted by the "UP" at the end of the SKU) is visibly brighter than the 1000 series. The only complaint is that the Toshiba PAR38s (1000 and 1100 series, across the 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K we've purchased) display notable start-up delay. To be fair, a Phillips PAR38 we purchased is not free from this either, but I estimate the Toshiba has at least a 500 ms (0.5 second) delay, while the Phillips may be half that, if even. It isn't the end of the world, but can be a bit offsetting-- and at this price, definitely something to keep in mind. On the other hand, I'm not sure a standalone PAR38 currently exists that is delay-free (or low enough a lag to be unnoticeable). The Halo LED all-in-one fixture for our shower recessed fixture is instant-on, but significantly more expensive. Bottom line-- exceptional light output, good light spread, high-quality (accurate) color temperature/rendering, and reasonable price. We needed a range of color temperatures in PAR38, and Toshiba was the only game in town outside of the Halo and Cree all-in-one units. Definitely try before you buy to make sure you can live with the delay. On a positive note, the delay seems very consistent between bulbs, so at least you won't end up with a strange pattern of 6 bulbs (on a single circuit) turning on at different times. Having said all this, we tested single Toshiba PAR38s in a range of color temperatures, and still went with these bulbs for our 6 living room cans. For us, the delayed start is more than acceptable vs. the oddities of CFL (either slow brightening or some trickery to faster brightness with the tradeoff of a delayed start/supplemental halogen mechanism), and not sufficiently annoying to pay the significant premium for the Halo/CREE units. Rated 5 out of 5 by Expensive, but provide great lighting. We used these in seven 6" recessed lighting cans in our kitchen. The color of the light (3500k) is perfect, and -is- halogen like. They are very bright. Beam spread could be a little wider, but is not a big problem. They didn't work with the first dimmer we tried, even though it was advertised for LED bulbs. Replaced the dimmer with the Lutron SLV-603P-WH and they dim fine. June 24, 2012
