Rated 5 out of 5 by Good bulb for replacing incandescent bulbs I bought this bulb to replace some standard incandescent bulbs. I tried a few other similar bulbs of different brands before I tried this one, and this Philips bulb was the best out of the 4 I tried. This bulb was the brightest (looking), some bulbs say 800-1000 lumens but don't really look that bright when you install them. The color temperature on this bulb is accurate, not always the case with other brands I've tried. The light pattern is mostly omni-directional; there is pretty much even output throughout the top glass/plastic part of the bulb which you can see in the picture, maybe slightly more out the top than the sides, but overall an even dispersion. There is not much light focused downward toward the base of the bulb, but there is some; that is not an issue for most light fixtures, and it wasn't for mine. This was one of the brightest omni-directional bulbs I could find, with the best dispersion pattern. Other bulbs I tried either focused light out the sides and very little out the top, or had a good omni-directional pattern, but were not very bright (at least not bright enough for what I wanted). Those bulbs are about half the stated lumens as this one. I bought 2 of these bulbs to try, now I'm buying another 6, and will probably use them everywhere that requires an A19 bulb. June 21, 2014
