Intro to LED G4 Bi-Pin Bulbs
Commonly found in under-cabinet puck lights, landscape lighting, and automotive lighting, G4 bi-pin bulbs are small bulbs that can pack a big punch. These LED G4s are designed to replace traditional halogen mini indicator bulbs with a few distinct advantages. Unlike halogens, LEDs won't get damaged from the oil on your hands so not as much care needs to go into installation and replacement. LEDs also don't emit as much heat as halogen lamps. When halogens are used in under-cabinet puck lights, the heat can damage some foods or plants on the countertop if the lights are left on too long. LED mini indicator bulbs also last longer and consume less power than other types of lighting. This means years of reliable light and lowered energy costs.
Our selection of LED G4 bi-pin bulbs are available in a wide range of color temperatures, including warm whites to closely resemble incandescent, halogen white, and cooler whites proven to help reduce eyestrain and increase productivity. Choose from a variety of wattages, voltages, Lumen outputs, and waterproof options. These bulbs are great for applications where lighting is powered by a battery source.
How to Identify Your Bi-Pin Bulbs
Not sure what kind of mini indicator lamp you have in your fixture? No problem. There are a few simple steps you can take to figure it out. Step one is to identify the type of base. These bulbs have a straight bi-pin base, meaning there are two pins that extend straight out from the bottom of the bulb. Since there are several different bi-pin bases, including G4, G8, or G9, the next step will be to measure the pin spacing. The number after the "G" represents the space between the pins in millimeters. So, G4 bi-pin bulbs have 4 millimeters, or .157 inches, between the pins. The next thing you need to know is the voltage used in the fixture. The approved voltage rating should be printed somewhere on the fixture housing or socket. Failing that, a voltage rating may be printed on the bulb. Once you have your replacement bulb, installation for G4 bi-pin is as simple as pushing it into the socket.
